Winter Hiking in the Border Triangle

For those of you who love walking, holidays at the Mountain Resort DIE KANZLERIN have a lot to offer, and not just during the hottest season. Explore the Gerlitzen countryside and its surrounding areas on winter hikes with expert guides or on your own, and start your tour straight from your apartment on exciting winter hiking trails, e.g. go full-moon hiking in the Dobratsch Nature Park or head off on a snowshoe walk in Carinthia, Slovenia or Italy. Tobogganing Fun for the Whole Family

Winter isn’t winter without the fun of tobogganing! Grab yourself a toboggan and make your way up the tobogganing hill at the Gerlitzen middle station, 500 m away from our hotel and perfect for the whole family. Or why not combine hiking and tobogganing on the trails Dobratsch Nature Park, Trabinerhof, Hundmarhof, Fürnitz, Baumgartenhöhe & Dreiländereck. Our team will be happy to explain the best way to access each of the toboggan runs.

Alpine Touring by Day and by Night

Every Thursday, the Dreiländereck skiing slopes belong to the ski mountaineers. At 5:00 p.m. the valley run is closed and the slopes can be used free of charge for alpine touring. But you can also head off on an alpine tour to the summit straight from the mountain resort via the Schönbergsiedlung. Until 10:00 p.m. you can treat yourself to refreshments at the mountain restaurant and after that you can wedel down the perfectly maintained and illuminated slope to the valley.

Nordic Winter Sports in Carinthia

The Villacher Alpen Arena at the foot of the Dobratsch is the region’s Nordic skiing sports centre. Here, a 5-km cross-country skiing trail awaits you (can be prepared with snow cannons and lighting) as well as a ski jump for 90, 60, 30 and 15 metres, which operates all the year round. There are further cross-country trails in Arriach, near the valley station Klösterle and in Rosental, St. Jakob. Particularly popular for fans of ski jumping and cross-country skiing is the area around Planica in Slovenia, a large Nordic skiing sports centre not far from the border with Austria.
